Game Translator for Windows

Thaluna is a real-time game translator built for dialogue boxes, menus, tutorials, subtitles, and stylized on-screen text. It combines a resizable OCR capture area, floating translation window, manual Lens Mode, Continuous Lens for changing UI regions, local and cloud translation backends, and long-session quality-of-life features.

Why Thaluna fits game translation

Thaluna is designed for OCR-heavy game workflows where normal translators break down: dialogue boxes, menus, subtitles, stylized fonts, and scenes where you want to keep playing instead of alt-tabbing.

Resizable OCR capture area

Move and resize the exact region Thaluna should scan. Keep OCR focused on dialogue or UI instead of the whole screen.

Multiple OCR modes

Use Standard for clean text, Pixel Text for game fonts, or Manga mode for harder vertical layouts. OCR language can be switched separately from translation language.

Local or cloud translation

Use built-in local models, your own Ollama models, or OpenRouter cloud models when you want higher quality output.

Performance controls

Switch OCR between CPU and GPU, lower refresh rate with Low CPU Mode, or enable Auto-Pause when text stops changing.

Common game workflows

JRPG and adventure dialogue

Keep the OCR region on the dialogue box and let the floating translation window update in real time while you play.

Menus, tutorials, and item descriptions

Switch to Lens Mode for static text, full screen scans, or selected-area snapshots when you want translated text directly on top of the original UI.

Continuous Lens for updating UI

Use Continuous Lens when a dialogue box, quest panel, or menu region keeps updating in place and you want Lens overlays to refresh automatically.

Long sessions

Use presets, shortcuts, backlog history, and session transcript saving so repeated setup does not slow you down.

Why this is stronger than a generic translator tab

  • Purpose-built for games, not browser text
  • Dedicated OCR capture area and translation window
  • Lens Mode for static scenes and menus
  • Backlog history and transcript saving for long play sessions
  • Offline-first workflow with optional cloud quality upgrades
  • Experimental DPI fix for real-time mode above 100% Windows scaling
